WARDC COMMISSIONS PILOT SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROJECT

On Thursday, July 20th, 2023, the Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC) officially launched its Solid Waste Management Pilot Project at the WARDC Headquarters in Waterloo.
The commissioning ceremony was presided over by Madam Doris Fatima Webber, a prominent civil society activist and leader of WAADO, who eloquently highlighted the significance of the procured items by the council in supporting effective waste collection and management in the Western Area Rural District.
The Solid Waste Management Pilot Project includes the acquisition of Tricycles, Wheelbarrows, boots, Hats, and overalls for the waste management handlers, enhancing their ability to carry out their duties efficiently and safely.
Mr. Raman Tom Farmer, Chief Administrator of the Western Area Rural District Council, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Sierra Leone, particularly the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, for their timely and vital support in tackling the waste management challenges faced by WARDC.
In his keynote address, Amb Tamba Lamina, the Honorable Minister of Local Government and Community Affairs Designate, commended the exemplary leadership demonstrated by WARDC.
