Chairman Kasho Joseph Holland-Cole is committed to solving problems for people across the WARDC under his leadership.
It is with great pride and optimism that I welcome you to the official website of the Western Area Rural District Council. This platform is designed to serve as an open window into our district’s vision, priorities, and collective journey toward sustainable development. As a Council, we are committed to building a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Western Area Rural District. Guided by our mandate under the Local Government Act 2004 (amended in 2022) and aligned with the Sierra Leone Medium-Term National Development Plan (2024–2030), we continue to champion national priorities such as Feed Salone, Human Capital Development, Youth Employment, Infrastructure, Technology and Innovation, and Public Sector Performance Enhancement. Our development agenda also embraces global frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, ensuring that our growth is sustainable and equitable.
This journey is made possible through the active participation of our communities, devolved Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), Civil Society, the private sector, and development partners. Together, we are tackling challenges such as rapid urbanization, environmental sustainability, and economic transformation while creating opportunities for every resident to thrive.
This website provides a space for transparency, accountability, and engagement. I encourage you to explore it, learn more about our programs and projects, and partner with us in shaping the future of our district.
Let us work together to transform the Western Area Rural District into a beacon of resilience, innovation, and shared prosperity.
